We are excited to share that our new shirts have arrived our sea turtle research fundraiser has started!Β

In partnership with Grenada’s long standing sea turtle conservation and research NGO Ocean Spirits (http://www.oceanspirits.org) πŸ’š πŸ’™ 🌎  we have designed a new shirt that is now for sale at Eco Dive. The shirts themselves are made from a mixed recycled plastic poly and all profits from sales are being donated to Ocean Spirits to help purchase and install a satellite tag for a Green Sea Turtle, a frequent flyer around Grenada but never before tagged and tracked!

Grand Anse Beach, Grenada’s iconic 2 mile white sand beach, and location of our PADI AWARE Adopt a Dive Site monthly clean up dive/snorkel is home to numerous endangered juvenile Green Sea Turtles. These Green Sea Turtles forage in the sea grass beds, and get some R & R among the patch reefs and coral boulders scattered throughout the nearshore habitat along the beach. A common sighting for our early morning beach goers who like a morning swim or snorkel, these speedy beauties are always a highlight. During our clean up dives we have rescued 2 baby Greens entangled in kite and fishing line off the beach over the past couple years, both of whom were released safely 😊  but from here we are just not sure where they go. With the expertise of Ocean Spirits, Eco Dive assists annually with traditional tagging efforts (metal tags on their fore-flippers), but with the developing technology and reach we can now step it up, with your help, and get some live tracking of one (or more!) of our Grenada Green’s.

Our fundraising goal is $3000 USD / $8100 ECDΒ

This would cover:

  • satellite tag and import fees
  • satellite tracking monthly subscription to keep the tag live tracking for 18 months
  • materials needed to install the tag and Veterinary time to give our team Eco turtle a check up

Turtle Project shirts are available for sale at Eco Dive on Grand Anse Beach, located on property at Coyaba Beach Resort and next to Umbrellas Beach Bar. These awesome new tops are only available in Grenada and as supplies last! Cost is $50 US / $135 EC and ALL proceeds go to support this project.

Want to contribute but aren’t in Grenada?Β  You can make a donation online via Widecast (widecast.org) the Caribbean Sea Turtle Conservation Network. Widecast is a US registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so if you are from the US your contribution is tax deductible. Just place ‘Ocean Spirits and Eco Dive Project’ under the name of the project and your funds will get to this project!

Want to join us and sponsor your own turtle tag? We’d be happy to have another partner and raise enough to tag more than one turtle! Think you or your organisation are interested in a race? 🐒 😎 β˜€οΈ 🏝 πŸ’¦Β  Get in touch and let us know πŸ˜‰

Stay tuned for fundraising updates 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟  & THANK YOU!
