With a new camera’s first trip down under we took some pictures off the beach in front of Coyaba Beach Resort while snorkeling and duck diving. A good first start, and a complementary option for all Coyaba Beach Resort guests.

Most of the near shore area looks a lot like this:

Scenery of seagrass beds and White Spine urchins a.k.a. Sea eggs

BUT – The vast open spaces encourage juvenile and schools of fish to congregate around the interspersed coral outcroppings.

Protected by the coral head fish congregate in these areas

French Grunts, a Juvenile French Anglefish and a Long Spine sea urchin hiding under a coral head

Loving the coral heads

Squirelfish own this territory under an overhang on another coral outcropping, with one Grunt for good luck.
