Success of the day:
- Two endangered Green sea turtles were safely caught and tagged
- One turtle, ‘Levera’ was tagged with a satellite tag that we will be tracking & a microchip
- A second smaller turtle was safely caught, measured, checked (she was very healthy!) and tagged with a microchip
Fun facts:
- you can’t tell sea turtle sex externally at this age
- juvenile Green turtles love to eat seagrasses
Our second Sea Turtle Satellite tag is live and on the move! Please welcome LEVERA to our sea turtle satellite tag family. Levera was safely caught and tagged on Aug 2nd with the help of Oceans Spirits longtime support crew Benson, Tevin and Dr Carter and of course of Eco team. With tags specifically ordered for mid sized juvenile Green turtles to help gain some more data on our Grand Anse Beach regulars, Levera was caught in the beautiful seagrass beds off of Grand Anse Beach and safely and successfully released back into the wild all before lunchtime. We have since confirmed the tag is live and active and Levera is making her way around the south west corner of Grenada with daily feeding times along our beautiful Grand Anse Beach.
Stay tuned to follow LEVERA’s journey and to catch updates on ECO, our beauty who was tagged last November. Wishing our sea turtle babies lots of good feeding and safe passage around our nearshore waters.
Sightings please report to Eco Dive ASAP we live for updates!!
Stay tuned!
